Hi! I just thought I would share this story I wrote with everyone here! This was inspired by a dream I had! I hope everyone likes it!

“As Brave as Easter”

I smiled down at my youngest little girl as the cab sped along to our destination. My husband, Matt would have driven us, but he had an early start at work that day, so we had to fend for ourselves. IT was a good thing my wee angel loved riding in cabs so much. It was like an adventure for her.
Unfortunately, the place we were going to wasn’t as adventurous or even fun. We were heading for Sophie’s annual check up at the hospital.
Sophie had been unusually quiet that morning as well as a little clingy with me. I didn’t mind the latter of course, I would cuddle with her any day. The same went for my other three daughters as well. What bothered me was Sophie’s quietness. She was usually a chatterbox. And whenever she was quiet, something was either bothering her or she had something on her mind.
After a few minutes of silence had passed, I broke it with a question of my own.
“Soph, is something’ wrong, sweetheart?”
Sophie shook her head. She liked going to see Dr. Susan Larkin, so I knew she wasn’t scared of who was going to perform the examination.
Cindi Johnson, another favorite doctor of Sophie’s would have done it, but she was off today.
“Are you sure, honey?” I asked, wanting to make sure my angel was okay.
Sophie nodded.
“Are you scared about the check up?” I inquired, wanting to get down to the bottom of Sophie’s quiet mood.
“Nasai.” Sophie replied, her voice strong and confident. “No.”
I was taken aback by this.
The reason was, Sophie was usually a mess when it came to going anywhere near a hospital or medical facility. The only exception was if she wasn’t the patient.
But then it occurred to me that Sophie may have gotten all of her nervousness out this morning when she wouldn’t leave my side.
“It’s okay to be afraid, you know.” I assured her, seeing if Sophie would change her mind.
“I know.” Sophie replied, staring out of the window. “But I’m not scared, Mommy. I promise.”
I nodded.
There were a few minutes of silence before the driver broke it. She was a nice woman by the name of Gabrielle.
“Not scared, huh? Well you remind me of my niece, Samantha. She’s not afraid of much either.”
Sophie grinned at her.
Gabrielle then turned to me.
“Not to be nosy, but what is she goin’ in for?”
“A regular check up.” I replied. And it’s okay.”
Gabrielle nodded.
When we arrived at the hospital, I helped Sophie out before getting out and paying Gabrielle.
“Thank you for everything.” I told her.
Gabrielle shrugged and smiled at Sophie.
“It’s no problem. You two are my favorite customers. Actually, your whole family is my favorite. Those girls are as sweet as they come.”
“Thanks.” I replied, blushing.
Gabrielle grinned before turning her attention to Sophie.
“Bye-bye Sophie. Good luck at your appointment.”
Sophie turned around and gave the woman another smile.
“Thanks, but I don’t believe in luck. Besides, I don’t need it.”
“Why not?” Gabrielle asked, intrigued by Sophie’s reply.
“Because I have God. He’ll help me. And besides, I’m going to be as brave as Easter.”
Gabrielle laughed aloud as did I. My angel was something else all right.
It wasn’t until we were walking towards the elevator, did Sophie’s words hit me.
“Sophie, what do you mean when you said you’re going to be as brave as Easter?”
“I’m going to be as brave as easter.” Sophie repeated. “You know, that girl who saved all of her people, even though she was scared to talk to the king.”
It was then that it hit me what Sophie meant.
I burst out laughing, making Sophie frown.
“What’s so funny?” She asked, a note of hurt in her voice.
“Nasai, honey.” I told her, pulling her close. “You’re just cute, that’s all. And Mommy’s not laughing at you to make fun of you.” I assured her.
“Then why are you laughing?” Sophie inquired before stopping to take a drink from the fountain.
I waited until Sophie was done before answering her question.
“Well because I just realized what you meant.”
Sophie frowned in confusion.
I hastened to explain.
“When you said easter, I think you meant Esther.”
“Esther? Who’s Esther?” Sophie asked as we walked through the door of the office.
I smiled.
“Well, she was the person you’re referring to. You just got her name mixed up with the Holiday, Easter. That’s all.”
Sophie nodded, finally understanding.
“So I got it right?” She asked, hopefully.
I nodded.
“Sort of.”
“Mommy, will you tell me the story, please?” Sophie begged, her brown eyes full of hope.
“I thought Aunt Monica told it to you?” I said, settling down on one of the couches.
Sophie nodded.
“Aye, she did. But I like when you tell me stories best of all. You’re good at it. Please?”
“Now how can I deny a request like that? Of course I’ll tell you the story of Esther. Come here, sweetie.” With that, Sophie climbed into my lap and I pulled her close.
Once Sophie was comfortable, I started the story.
“Nasai ae, listen, my darlin’ and lend me you’re ear. And a tale of bravery you soon will hear.”
This got Sophie giggling.
Once the giggles had subsided, I told Sophie her favorite Biblical story. All of my girls’ had their favorites, but Sophie loved Esther’s story best of all.
As I got to the end, the nurse called Sophie’s name. She smiled at us and let me finish what I was saying before showing us back to the room.
“Thanks, Mommy!” Sophie said, after I was done.
“Aw, you’re welcome, my angel. I’m glad you liked it.”
Sophie grinned.
Just then, Susan Larkin walked in. She gave both of us a smile before turning her attention to Sophie.
“So, Miss Sophie, are you ready for your check up?”
Sophie grinned.
“Yuppers! And I’m not scared either.”
Susan grinned.
“I’m glad. But why the sudden change of mind?”
Sophie shrugged.
“Esther wasn’t afraid and I’m going to be as brave as she was.”
“Who’s Esther?” Susan asked, truly interested.
Sophie gasped as though she couldn’t believe Susan’s words.
“Aunt Susan, you don’t know who Esther is?”
Susan shook her head.
“I’m afraid I don’t.” She replied, getting ready to examine Sophie.
Sophie shook her head.
“Oh Aunt Susan, you have to hear this story…” With that, Sophie recounted the tale for Susan completely from memory.
As I held Sophie in my lap, I grinned. She was an amazing girl and I was certainly blessed to have her in my life. Just like I was blessed to have all four of my daughters in my life.

This is a cute story; It's short and sweet.
It's absent of a plot though, so not very exciting or intriguing. And I don't really see a moral point or message in it. But that's just me.

Hi! Thanks for the compliment! It was meant to be short and sweet. But it also did have a message. It was to let God take your fear so He can turn it into something beautiful and give you peace in return. If you want to read anymore of my stories, go to fictionpress.com for my original ones and fanfiction.net for my fanfics.
I hope to hear from you soon
God bless,
Lauren

It is a ver ycute story. And the unterlying thing that I saw in it is how that mother loved her children. You could see that she was full of god's love. Sounds a bit like the perfect godly family. It's beautiful.
